A Good Week

Mmmm! Bracknell's best biscuits

It’s been a good week for biscuits in the office.

I thought things were looking bright when a packet of chocolate Hob Nobs appeared on Wednesday but little did I know things were set to get even better…

Two weeks in and look what we’ve done!

Two weeks in and look what we’ve done! The season is well and truly here…what do you think of it so far?

We have had a stupendous start, the initial loss to the Flames (boo!) aside, the lads have really gelled and are creating wonderful combinations of flair and skill on the ice.

The Tragic Tale of Travis

Mmmm! Bracknell's best biscuits

“I’m still a cookie-holic, you can hide ‘em, I’m-a find ‘em, on the counter, in the closet, and I’ll say I ain’t do it with my face covered in chocolate.”

These words, from a soon-to-be-hit pop song, highlight the plight of a biscuit obsessed madman (no, not me).

Savoury Biscuits and Clown Doctors

Mmmm! Bracknell's best biscuits

Biscuits – a sweet treat that gives you a little sugar boost to help you through the day. Right?

Not necessarily. Biscuits can be savoury too and last week I found that there is a huge and unexplored world of salty, cheesy and herby biscuits waiting to be discovered.

Monday nights

I’ve never quite gotten the hang of Monday nights.

Mondays are probably the dullest days of the week, and Monday nights doubly so.

Please give birth quietly!

I was fortunate and very honoured to witness my sister give birth to my beautiful niece Molly a few weeks ago.

It was an amazing, emotional and terrifying experience, one that I will never ever forget.

Friends

A couple of weeks ago we said goodbye to one of my best friends ,  Jess, who has decided to return to Hong Kong after many years in England, with a nice barbecue at Chez Canning  with a few close friends.

We met back way back in secondary school – damn it,   it feels bad saying  "way back ", but it was nearly a decade ago now  - and immediately took a dislike to each other.

Biscuits of the Stars

Mmmm! Bracknell's best biscuits

We all like biscuits - even the rich and the famous.

So while glossy magazines cover all other aspects of celebrity life, from their holidays with their ridiculously named spawn to their fluctuating waistlines, I want to concentrate on the only thing that really matters.

What are the stars’ favourite biscuits?

The Global Biscuit Revolution

Mmmm! Bracknell's best biscuits

A cup of tea and a biscuit. Few things are more quintessentially English – or are they?

It seems in our modern, multi-cultural society even the biscuit is being brought into the 21st century by influences from abroad.

Are New Biscuits All Rubbish? No!

Mmmm! Bracknell's best biscuits

New biscuits are almost always rubbish.

There is a very good reason why almost all the best selling biscuits (Digestives, Hob Nobs, Jaffa Cakes (don’t start), Garibaldis, Bourbons etc) have been around for ages – it’s because all the best ideas have been taken.

That’s what I though until the other day when I was taken by surprise in the supermarket.

Biscuit News

It’s been a busy week for biscuits in the news.

A biscuit has been named Mr Barbados 2008, a man has paid good money for a tin of nearly 70-year-old biscuits and one unfortunate youngster’s love of biscuits has cost him his life.

Bracknell on a Friday night..

You know the drill by now.

Friday night at the Old Manor , a few beers, and if  you're like me, you're not ready to go home,  are you? But what on earth is there to do in Bracknell on a Friday night, or any other night (or day) for that matter?

After the always uninspiring pre-season campaign, the proper season is here and Bracknell Town are up and running after victory in their first game yesterday.

When did giving to charity become mandatory?

I read a letter from a fellow magazine reader stating that Jordan (aka Katie Price) shouldn’t buy her daughter Princess countless pairs of shoes and should, instead, donate all her spare cash to charity.

Why should she? It’s her money, after all, and if she wants to buy her daughter hundreds of shoes, then that’s her prerogative surely?
