I like Bracknell...

I like Bracknell and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

My biggest pet hate is too many people moaning about the town; the lack of nightlife (true), too many housing estates (also true) and ever growing industrial estates (very much true).

However, if you want the nightlife, you can jump on a train or bus to nearby Wokingham, Reading or Windsor.

Who wants the noisy nightlife of Reading on their own doorstep?

We are an ever growing town, so unfortunately the housing estates are a must.

We should be thankful that the new housing estates are tasteful and not massive, monstrous, ugly eyesores!

There are more and more blue chip companies moving to the area (I should know, I work for one), but instead of complaining we should be celebrating the great job opportunities open to us all, without the awful need to commute every day into dreary, old London.

Who wants to spend an extra ten hours plus a week travelling to and from work sitting so close to some stranger that you can smell what shower gel they’re using, if you’re lucky enough that they wash before leaving the house!

Bracknell is the place I grew up in, where my family live, the town I met my husband and the place I like to call home.

What would you do to CHANGE Bracknell, for the better? if you had all the money in the world and were in charge of the council?

I like Bracknell and have been here for 30+ years and am still waiting for the NEW town centre- there has been a lot of talk but to be honest l am fed up with the talk and want action.
You go into town and think there is a new shop and then find it is just one that has moved location.
Come on Bracknell - lets get the town we deserve

Is it just the lack of shops that make the town centre so bad - its got the same shops as every other town...? What could be better? more cafes? more individuality? can you suggest anything

Have you seen this link from the bourough council?

The council obviously know its a problem - I wonder if the public consultation is still happening... I know there is a an artist at South Hill Park Arts centre making some work on this... I wonder if the council knows...

Walked into the high street the other day - (Bentalls and McDonalds end), and thought it looked alrite!

Mix of old (The Bull) and new (shop fronts on the right - Costa Coffee for example) and all the flowers.

Just so long as you don't go as far as the Bandstand!

Still the most miserable place on a Saturday morning though, can everyone just cheer up!!

as a stranger to the town - what's wrong with the Bandstand?! and why do you think everyone is so miserable?!
its seems a lot of people complain about the town, but no one ever seems to want to do anything about it - are they just happier to complain?!

can anyone tell me what, exactly, is wrong with the town, or what's wrong with the surrounding areas, and, most importantly, how you'd fix it, if you had all the money in the world!?
