Robins up and running

After the always uninspiring pre-season campaign, the proper season is here and Bracknell Town are up and running after victory in their first game yesterday.

Keith Newby’s excellent free-kick and substitute Dean Thomas’ winning goal with his first touch sent the Larges Lane faithful home happy and the winless pre-season campaign is now only a mere memory.

Next up at Larges Lanes is the local derby against Windsor & Eton on Bank Holiday Monday (kick-off 3pm) so please come along and get behind the Robins.

On the player front, seven new players have signed since the last blog with striker Errol Telemaque and winger Ryan McIntosh committing a week ago, whilst full back Luke Dexter joins on loan from Maidenhead United for the season.

In addition, goalkeeper Tom Taylor, full back Leon Woodruffe, midfielder Connor Hamilton and winger Otis Williams all signed on Friday. I’d like to welcome all players to Larges Lane.

In other news, the professional season has kicked off. My tip for the leagues are Chelsea for the Premiership (as a Man Utd fan that pains me), Birmingham City for the Championship, Leeds United and Bradford City for Leagues One and Two respectively. I’m also predicting Oxford City to win the Blue Square League and Celtic for the Scottish Premier Division – well I have a 50/50 chance there!

I can also see Gosport Borough winning our division with the Robins finishing in a credible 10th position.

Let me know who you are predicting for the various leagues and why.
