Bracknell Town

Hello and welcome to my first blog, mostly concerning Bracknell Town Football Club but I will also discuss the topical matters in football in general.

I am a Manchester United fan (please don’t hold that against me) and a Bracknell Town fan who follows the first team home and away and who watches the other sides when I can.

Byron Walton continues to overhaul the first team squad with 4 new signings – a goalkeeper and three midfielders.
All 4 players have great pedigree having played at a higher level with the new number one Chris Goodchild having been released from QPR last season.

The midfielders are Billy Sentence (formerly on Chelsea’s books), Rory Jenkins and Keith Newby and Byron believes this will give us the best midfield in the division…… let’s hope so.

Most of the existing players have agreed to stay on which is great news and the club will be re-starting a reserve side which is great news and a much needed cog within the football club.

The new league fixtures are released on Tuesday 15th July and the one question all us supporters want to know is ‘when is Truro away?’ which we are hoping will be one of our famous barmy army weekend jollies.

Off the pitch, the main club and the official supporters club have worked hard and the pitch is looking the best it has done in years so great credit must go to Ray Coxhead and Dave White for that.

A work day has also taken place with gardening, weeding, repairs and a general tidy up the order of the day and Larges Lane is also looking much better.

More work days are planned so please keep checking www.bracknelltownfc.com for all Bracknell Town FC news.

Speaking of the website, we were recently voted fifth best non-league website by The Non League Today newspaper which is a great achievement as the four websites above us all belong to a higher football league. We are aiming to be number 1 next season!

I don’t know about you but I really enjoyed the European Championships even without any home nation interest.
I tipped Italy to beat Germany 1-0 in the final so I didn’t do too bad but I think Spain were consistently the best team and were rightly deserving of the title.

Xabi was voted player of the tournament but my pick was his international team-mate Marcos Senna who protected the Spanish back four and gave Xabi, Iniesta, Silva and the rest a platform of which to turn defence into attack.

Let me know who you thought was the player of the tournament and why.

Anyway, that’s my first blog over so keep checking back as we head into the new football season.
