It's more about performances than results

Well the first pre-season fixture was played on Tuesday night and it’s great to get back once again to live football.

We lost 2-1 but as the cliché goes “it’s more about the performances and trying out new players and systems rather than results which matter at this early stage”.

This weekend sees the second friendly when we make the short journey to play local neighbours Binfield in what has become a yearly fixture.

Usually we get the better of the score line but last year we were thumped 4-1 and played in a particularly embarrassing fashion and the manager and players have been told that we won’t tolerate it this weekend!

Why not come down the Stubbs Lane this Saturday (3pm kick-off) to see two local sides in action.

Talking of watching local football, why not come to Larges Lane on Tuesday 5th August when Bracknell play their only home pre-season fixture as they host Blue Square South side Maidenhead United.

With the game so close to the start of the new league campaign, both sides will surely put out a strong side.

Bracknell’s league fixtures were published on Tuesday and the whole season looks fair in terms of where and when we travel to away games.

For the sixth year in a row, we finish with an away game and for the fifth year in a row, it’s a 4 hour plus round trip.

The only consolation is it’s against our old friends Cinderford and we can have a laugh and a few drinks on the coach home as we discuss our favourite memories from the season.

The eagerly awaited trip to Cornwall to face Truro is set for Saturday 28th March next year so that’s the weekend away sorted!
