Just in case we go out...

If the unspeakable happens and England play as poorly as they did against Algeria, who should we turn to? If England fail to make it through to the next stage of the competition there are many teams to choose from.

As I am in Africa my thoughts initially turned to a home nation, but the prospects of an African nation progressing to the later stages of the competition are dwindling, particularly after Portugal's drubbing of North Korea this morning, meaning the Ivory Coast need to win their last game by 9 goals to have a chance of qualifying.

My thoughts turned to the Ivory Coast due to a few cheeky characters that are in the team, I have a particular liking for Eboue!

Opinions will be divided back home but my buddies and I out here have agreed to go... Dutch.

The Dutch have many quality attributes in my eyes and here are three reasons why i will back them if England whimper out of the World Cup at the group stage.

Firstly their tangerine shirts, reminding me of Blackpool's unbelievable success under Ian Holloway this season.

Secondly their fans who have been magnificent so far in the 2010 World Cup, they always go the extra mile in supporting their team, sometimes with some ludicrous fancy dress! I can imagine they will be brilliant if the Dutch get to the latter stages of the competition.

And lastly their football, they play the beautiful game with an attack from the back mentality. They also have so much variance in the players at their disposal going forward from Robben to Kuyt to Snijder, plus I have always been an avid Van Persie fan!

I will be gutted if England go out at such an early stage, so I will take solace in the Dutch, especially seen as though I will still be in South Africa without a team to support!

Will you support another team if England go out or will you stay neutral?

Township blog to come soon.
