Driving to work this morning, I was delighted to see a banner outside the Coppid Beech Hotel proclaiming the return of ‘Ultimate Madness’ to the Bier Keller on Friday, March 6.

Ultimate Madness, as you might have gathered, are a Madness tribute band, and after seeing the real thing last year, I could not be more excited!

Well, I was supposed to be going to see the relegation battle between Bracknell Town and Taunton Town tonight at Larges Lane, but like last Saturday’s trip to Didcot, and last Tuesday’s visit of Gosport Borough, it was off!

But what is going on? I am one of those who is sceptical about the effects of global warming (I had a professor at uni who convinced me it wasn’t all our fault) but I am becoming concerned about the horrific weather conditions we are experiencing at the moment, particularly when it get in the way of the football.

Did anyone else try skating home on Friday night?

I did, unfortunately I was a little worse for wear and at one point almost ended up covered in tasty curry.

I am a bit gutted Sky Sports didn’t pick up on my loose change transfer from Bracknell Sunday League side Keltar Old Boys to Bracknell Manics Reserves last night after the transfer window closed.

So having challenged myself (those five of you who have been paying attention will know) to find Bracknell’s best pub, I have decided a points system is needed.

I will then visit Bracknell’s pubs and rate them all and bring you, my avid reader, the results.

Putting aside my best-pub search, Bracknell Forest Standard editor Alison Hepworth sent me an email this morning about a new and regular "burlesque" night being held at South Hill Park arts centre from Saturday, February 7.

So, thanks to everyone who has so far nominated a pub in my previous blog (ok, it was me, I am my only reader).

It’s been a lonely quest so far!

You may have read what I said in the Bracknell Forest Standard last week (page 5 down the bottom mum).

I’d love to say, like the stars do, that I was quoted out of context when I said: “I don’t think it will be hard to give it up in Bracknell. There isn’t really anywhere to go.”

I like to think I am fairly well travelled. My job takes me to Reading, Guildford, Manchester (and Wokingham... yes really). I’ve seen a bit and very little surprises me.

Recent converstion with Bracknell Forest Standard hack: “We doing the Bracknell half marathon again next year?”

Curt response along the lines of: “No chance, no way, you're kidding right?”

So Shikara’s might get new management?

Double-edged sword that one.

On the one hand, there is now no other nightspot within walking distance of the town centre, but on the other, it was horrible!

Apologies for my tardiness, it has been awhile since I updated my blog!

There has been a wave of man flu, the likes of which has never been seen…

I’ve never quite gotten the hang of Monday nights.

Mondays are probably the dullest days of the week, and Monday nights doubly so.
