It’s been a busy week for biscuits in the news.

A biscuit has been named Mr Barbados 2008, a man has paid good money for a tin of nearly 70-year-old biscuits and one unfortunate youngster’s love of biscuits has cost him his life.

First of all, biscuit lovers, I must apologise for the lack of recent blogs.

Among many reasons, including the busy world of news in Bracknell allowing me little biscuit eating time this week, is that I have been conducting a scientific experiment.

One of my aims in this blog is to find out what the best biscuit in the world is.

I thought it would take years. But this week I found a website that reckons it has the answer.

Free biscuits are one of the things that make life worth living.

When you get somewhere and find the fabled ‘complimentary biscuit’ it is truly a joyous occasion.

My personal favourite complimentary biscuit is what I like to call the ‘tax-payer’s biscuit’.

The Oxford dictionary defines a biscuit as: “a small unleavened cake, usually flat and crisp and often sweet.”

This, although accurate, does not do the biscuit justice.
